Awarded Prix l'EYP

We received the best award for best journalism on media freedom at the European Parliament.

Ingi was invited to the European Parliament in Brussels to represent Pocket Stories at the European Youth Media Days 2015 and worked with very talented media-makers from across Europe. During these days our infographic video ‘Migration vs Travelling’ was awarded the the Prix de l'EYP 2015, the European Youth Press's award, for the best journalism on media freedom. This was co-produced with the immensely talented Marit S. Hårr.

As a part of the award, I was invited to the European Parliament's Sakharov Prize ceremony in Strasbourg.

This year's Sakharov laureate, #SaudiArabian blogger and human rights activist, #RaifBadawi, is still in prison. An empty chair symbolised his absence. "He is simply a peaceful thinker who refused to be part of the herd" and “I am very proud of what he has done” said his courageous wife #EnsafHaidar, who accepted the prize for Freedom of Thought on his behalf.

This was a great reminder of how important it is to respect someone's view, even if you wholeheartedly disagree, without violent retributions.
